We are a global community of practice for climate communicators, creatives and leaders, and a resource for organizations and individuals seeking to implement effective climate communication strategies.
Our community harnesses the deep pool of global communications talent, establishing a network of communicators and creatives with the knowledge, skills and talents to develop deeply impactful messaging that moves the dial on climate, and shifts the balance of influence.
We are an inclusive, non-partisan organization, advocating for evidence-based approaches to climate communication for policymakers, nonprofits, business, academia and the media. We provide resources, education and insights to support climate messaging that unites diverse audiences, penetrates in a fragmented media landscape and drives action, not just awareness.
Why we exist
Four out of five people around the world (80 percent) want more climate action from their country. Over half of us think about climate change daily or weekly, and almost two thirds of people are starting to take climate change impacts into consideration when making decisions like where to live or work and what to buy. People across all geographies, demographics and political persuasions are concerned about climate change, but most of us still believe that others don’t care.
Why? Because we don’t talk about climate enough.
LET’S CHANGE THAT
Right now, the world is on track to achieve only one percent of the reductions needed to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees. The goal of the Climate Communications Alliance is to change that. We believe that regular, nonpartisan, evidence-based communication can build and sustain a collective drive to demand systems level change.
We have all the science we need to demonstrate the existence and causes of the climate crisis. We have most of the solutions we need to address it. We even have enough money. What we need now is a compelling vision, and enough people to want to talk about it that it can no longer be ignored. Will you join us?
WHAT SETS US APART
Engaging online is good. Great, even. Social media and communication platforms have changed the way we work and play, giving us more access to information and ideas than we’ve ever had previously.
But you told us that you miss human connection, community. You want to have real conversations with other people who care about the same things, who are trying to solve the same problems.
We don’t think you need another social network. Instead, the Climate Communications Alliance offers regular opportunities to interact with other members. Like a team without walls, our facilitated sessions allow you to ask questions, share ideas and get live input and support from global experts across a wide variety of disciplines, helping you to transform your communication impact.
We also know that human connections build resilience, reduce burnout and restore balance and joy to our lives. That’s why we offer community days, a chance to just be with others, make connections and have fun - something we could all use a little more of.
